About this piece

A teetering stack of antique leather-bound books, embossed and worn at the corners, with an open volume crowning the top. A theatrically excessive bolt of lightning descends from heavy storm clouds straight onto the page — divine signal received, fully understood, firmly declined. Rendered as a dignified Victorian academic plate, all scholarly serif type and museum-grade crosshatching, with a softening of daisies and fern fronds at the base. The clouds insist. The reader does not. For anyone who has looked the universe dead in the eye and decided, no, actually, not today.

The artwork leans devotional without becoming costume: candle flame, moon phases, and quiet floral ornament arranged like a private altar with excellent table manners.

Printed on soft ringspun cotton with a lightly weathered finish, so the whole thing reads less novelty tee and more found object with excellent timing.
